Connections that carry the current

IZAR has made flexible and rigid copper and aluminium current connections since 2000. Our plant is in Radwanice near Wrocław.

From wind turbine to welding machine

  1. Generation

    Wind power

From nacelle to tower base, flexible connections take up vibration and movement.

Wind turbine cutaway: generator in the nacelle and a flexible current path down the tower
  2. Generators

Flexible connections absorb vibration at the generator output.

  3. Transmission

    Power grid

In substations, flexible connections take up busbar expansion, and Cupal spacers join copper to aluminium.

Transmission tower and substation: conductors reach the busbars on post insulators through flexible connectors
  4. Transformers

A flexible connector links the transformer to the busbar trunking and absorbs the transformer’s vibration.

  5. Distribution

    Switchgear

In cabinets, flexible busbars can be bent and twisted to a very small radius.

  6. Energy storage

Copper laminates and laminated busbars connect battery modules in a compact layout.

  7. End use

    Railway

In traction substations and rolling stock, flexible connections work under constant vibration.

  8. Welding

For resistance welding machines we make riveted connectors, parts to drawing and terminals for water-cooled cables.

Common questions

What is the difference between PG and PE connectors?

PG is a flexible braid of 0.1–0.2 mm copper wires with contact ferrules pressed onto the ends. PE is a stack of copper strips 0.1–1 mm thick, press-welded together without any added material. The catalogue covers PG in cross-sections of 10–6,000 mm² and PE in 36 standard sizes from 100 to 3,200 mm².

How do I size a connector for my current?

Choose the smallest size whose rating in the catalogue table is at least your current. The values are guide values for vertical installation indoors, air up to 40 °C, a connector temperature of 90 °C, conductivity above 101% IACS and direct current. For other conditions, our sales team confirms the choice.

Can IZAR make a connector to my drawing?

Yes. IZAR makes connectors and parts to the customer’s drawing and specification in steel, copper, brass or aluminium, for example parts for welding machines and terminals for water-cooled cables. For PG connectors, the shape, hole pattern, number of braid layers and length are made to order.

What are your lead times?

Lead times are very short, sometimes just a few days. Our sales team confirms the lead time for each order.
