Applications of IZAR current connections
IZAR makes flexible and rigid copper and aluminium current connections. Each of these places sets them a different task: vibration, thermal movement, tight spaces or copper meeting aluminium.
Wind power
In the nacelle, the connector takes up rotor vibration and thermal movement.
Generators
At the terminals, the connector isolates machine vibration from busbars and cables.
Power grid
In a substation, the connector takes up busbar expansion and joins copper to aluminium.
Transformers
The connector links the terminals to busbar trunking without passing on vibration.
Switchgear
In a tight panel, the busbar bends on site and connects without lugs.
Energy storage
Direct current runs between modules. Insulation and a constant cross-section matter.
Railway
On a rail vehicle everything vibrates. The connector must work in every direction.
Welding
The welding arm moves in every cycle. The connector moves with it.
Questions
Choosing in three questions
How do I choose a connector for my application?
Start with the current and the movement the connector has to absorb. Large movement in several directions: a PG braid or a PLG cord. Little movement and little room: PE laminations. Cabinets and switchgear: SE flexible busbars. Copper meeting aluminium: Cupal PC spacers.
Can IZAR make a connector to my drawing?
Yes. Shape, hole pattern, length and contact finish are made to the customer’s drawing. Riveted connectors and custom projects are made only to drawing and specification.
Which dimensional tolerances apply?
Those of the IZAR company standard NZ1-5:2020, based on ISO 2768-1. For PG, overall length up to 150 mm has a tolerance of +5 mm, longer parts +15 mm; for PE, developed length +5 mm, width +1 mm and thickness +0.3 mm.
